Last summer a swarm of bees decided to live in the hollow of a giant oak tree right outside our bedroom window.
The cone shape is the swarm entering the hollow. This was taken on June 4, 2018.
When winter came we didn’t see them anymore. We thought that they were either hibernating or had left. There was the thought that they might have died.
They didn’t die.
They are back and swarming today.
Here is a very amateurish video of today’s bees!
There is plenty for them to eat, pollinate and drink. We use dish soap and water to keep the aphids off the roses so there are no pesticides, even “safe” ones. I am taking no chances with my renters!
Brilliant. If you don’t get stung, you have useful busy neighbours.

Last summer they didn’t bother us at all. They avoided the house for the most part. It was great to watch them come and go!
